Here at TechExplained.net we’re always open to new ways of spreading common sense advice and tips.
And the “Be Like Bill” meme seems to be doing just that, successfully flooding the Internet with (from what we’ve seen) plenty of practical, common sense advice about a variety of things, including Facebook etiquette!
Featuring Bill, a hand-drawn stickman with a woolly hat, the many images describe his behaviour as he manages to successfully navigate through life without falling for one of the many pitfalls we often face in this world. The images then implore readers to do the same by ending each image with “Be Smart. Be Like Bill.”
They’ve only recently been a hit since the beginning of 2016, and what we particularly liked was the example about Facebook like-farming, which we discussed last week. You can see that one below.
It seems that behaviour on social media is really important to Bill…
Bill’s indirect advice covers everything from the small things to the large things, from avoiding those vague Facebook statuses that are designed to fish for comments, to accepting people who have different beliefs than you. From not spending 20 minutes on your cellphone between sets at the gym, to not cheating on your girlfriend.
It seems Bill has almost everything covered.
It looks like many people have been creating these “Be Like Bill” memes since many have used different fonts and formatting, but their popularity has sky rocketed. While we don’t know who originally came up with the idea, a Facebook page has sprung up (be aware some memes contain strong language) that continually posts them.
And despite – at the time of writing – only been live for around a week, the Page has already attracted over 1 million followers, surely making it one of the fastest growing Facebook pages ever.
Which brings us to the inevitable question. What advice would you like to see Bill give?
